Bills safety Aaron Williams gave himself, the team, the fans, and his family a scare last night when he collided with Dez Lewis.

Last night in practice Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams, who is coming off of a serious neck injury last year that threatened his career, had a big collision with wide receiver Dez Lewis who was also injured on the play.

According to Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News, Lewis was running a slant route when Aaron Williams jumped up to make a play. When they collided there was a noticeably loud sound of pads and helmets colliding. The crowd gasped as both players went down to the ground.

Williams got up after several minutes and he is being checked out for concussion symptoms. While this is definitely bad news, in the context of the terrible things that could have happened considering the issues with his neck, this is actually very good news.

There is currently no timeline for how much time he could miss. A concussion is a very serious thing. Williams needs to be especially careful considering his previous health concerns.

Lewis’ injury appears to be on his right shoulder. His spot on the roster is anything but solidified even though he has played well throughout the offseason. If he misses a considerable amount of time it may end up affecting his chances of making the team.

Wide receiver Greg Salas injured his hamstring in Wednesday’s practice. He looks to be out a week or so. With both Salas and Lewis potentially out for the Bills first preseason game tomorrow against the Indianapolis Colts, it will give some of the other wideouts a chance to shine and make their case for remaining on the roster.

The Bills have had a bit of an injury bug lately. Let’s hope they are getting it out of the way now and that these issues won’t linger on into the season.
