IK Enemkpali throws punch at teammate just a year after Geno Smith incident.
IK Enemkpali did the unthinkable tonight on the one year anniversary of him breaking Geno Smith’s jaw when he was on the Jets last season. A year ago, IK threw a punch at Geno Smith over a $600 tab for a plane ticket that was not reimbursed according to reports.
The Jets cut him right after but Rex Ryan and the Bills signed him off of waivers. A year later he threw a punch at another teammate this time with the Bills according to this tweet from Joe Buscaglia.

The intended target of tonight’s punch was Cyrus Kouandjio although IK Enemkpali did not connect with his target this time around. According to this article from Bleacher Report, Ryan Groy stepped in as backup for Kouandjio making it a two on one situation.
Fights, altercations, and punches tend to happen from time to time in training camp. The fact that it’s Enemkpali involved is what’s going to cause this to get increased media coverage and scrutiny.
Hopefully, this is just another example of the many insignificant fights that happen in training camp from time to time. The Bills may need Enemkpali to start while Shaq Lawson heals from shoulder surgery and so this is a concern for the team if it becomes a bigger issue.
Only time will tell if this incident has any effect on the team but early indications are that it’s just another camp fight in the middle of August when practices are hot and uncomfortable. Unless players start to speak out about what happened, I wouldn’t worry about this at all.
