Former Bills FB Corey Knox: Exclusive Interview
By Dennis Moody
BuffaLowDown: Going back to your UB years or even your time with the Bills, who were the players who helped support you during your time and who did you look at as a mentor?
Corey: Going back to UB, John Syty was a guy who really wanted me to be there and saw something in me. He is a Buffalo guy through and through and wanted me to help the team and for us to win. Another guy who I didn’t get a chance to play with in college who I wish I played with was Pete Bittner. If I came on as a junior we would have played together. He was another Buffalo guy, a great football player and guy. He was super happy for me when I signed with the Bills and he was there to support me. As far as UB guys go there is no question that those two were huge.
When I was with the Bills Fred Jackson was a guy that I could talk to and from watching him my entire life I knew what type of heart that guy had. I wanted nothing but to block for him. I was more upset when they cut him then when they cut me. I texted him that and I told him that. I was really upset. When I was there he was what he had always been. The heart and soul of that team. He is a selfless guy. He wanted nothing but to help the community of Buffalo and to get us to win. To me, we needed more guys like that on the team. He was definitely a guy who heavily influenced me before and after I signed with the team.
