WR Kolby Listenbee Made A Pre-Draft Visit To The Bills

Wide receiver Kolby Listenbee made a pre-draft visit to the Bills. The receiver from TCU is 6’0″ and 197 pounds according to NFL.com.

Listenbee played at TCU with fellow receiver Josh Doctson who could be the first receiver drafted in 2016 and who is expected to go in either the first or second round. Listenbee, on the other hand, is projected to go somewhere between the 3rd and 5th rounds according to WalterFootball.com.

Listenbee is a four-time All-American track star who has lightning speed and can take the top off of a defense. He ran a 4.39 forty time which was the second fastest time for a receiver despite doing it coming off a groin injury. His broad jump of 10 feet, 9 inches was tied for 4th best amongst receivers.

Listenbee is a speedy deep threat who some NFL scouts see as one-dimensional. He has good hands but he lacks good route running ability and relies on his blazing speed. He averaged 19.4 per catch over his career at TCU according to Sports-Reference.com which highlights his speed and big play potential.

He has a thin frame and is not a great blocker. Unless he can improve in this area he will not get many snaps in the NFL because having receivers who can block is too big of a part of the game to ignore.

Listenbee is not a good fit in Buffalo for a few reasons. They already have Sammy Watkins who showed last year that he can burn a team deep on several occasions and the Bills don’t need another player to fill this role. Additionally, wide receivers in Buffalo tend to block more than they would for other NFL teams due to Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman’s heavy running scheme and that is an area where Listenbee struggles.

You can think about Listenbee as a younger, taller, slightly slower version of Marquise Goodwin. Buffalo already has their blazing fast track star on the roster and does not need a second player like him. The Bills should pass on Listenbee regardless of how far he slips in the draft.
