Devon Johnson Made A Pre-Draft Visit To The Bills
Fullback/Running back Devon Johnson made a pre-draft visit to the Bills according to Rotoworld.com. The back from Marshall is 6’0″ and 238 pounds as reported by NFL.com.
Johnson is a selfless player who has always put the team’s goals ahead of his own. Just taking a look at his positional history highlights this fact. He was originally recruited as a linebacker but switched to tight end his freshman season.
During his junior year, he switched to running back where he had a breakout year. According to HerdZone.com, he ran for 1,767 yards on 206 carries with 17 touchdowns on his way to earning a first team all-conference award his junior season.

Unfortunately for Johnson, his senior year did not work out as well because he missed five games and was limited due to a back injury.
Johnson’s nickname is “Rockhead” so it’s not surprising that he is considered a power back and a bruiser. He is mostly a north-south runner and lacks the agility to move east-west to avoid defenders. He projects as a possible goal line or fullback in the NFL who can also contribute on special teams.
For the Bills, he could be a cheaper and younger replacement for Boobie Dixon. He excels on the field in short yardage situations and he can contribute on special teams as well. However, it’s just simply not possible to replace Boobie Dixon’s infectiously upbeat personality in the locker room but the Bills aren’t necessarily looking for that.
Johnson has ball security issues as he has fumbled a number of times during his college career. Some argue that because he refuses to be tackled, and is always trying to get that extra yard, that this is the reason why he fumbles more often than he should. Whatever the reason is for his fumbling, that is one thing that NFL teams have zero patience for so he better fix it quickly.

Devon Johnson could end up being an undrafted free agent but he has also been projected by some experts to be taken as high as the 5th round. The Bills already have a solid backfield with LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams, and Mike Gillislee so if they were to go after Johnson it would likely be for his ability to contribute immediately on special teams in the NFL.
