Forbes released their annual NFL franchise valuations, with the Buffalo Bills ranking dead last

Forbes released their annual rankings of the 32 NFL franchises, and Buffalo Bills fans were understandably eager to find out where their beloved team placed. I’m sure they were as surprised as me to find out the result.

According to Forbes, the Bill are now 32nd out of all NFL franchises. That’s right – dead last.

Interesting, Buffalo saw their valuation increase by 50 percent from last year, to $1.4 billion. This is how much Terry Pegula paid when he bought the team in 2014, and actually stands at present as an NFL record.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Dallas Cowboys were the NFL’s – and the sports world’s – most valuable franchise, at $4 billion. Forbes said the average NFL team is now worth $2 billion, which represents a 38 percent increase from last year.

In reality, the Bills will probably always rank near the bottom in the annual valuations (they were 31st last year). Part of the reason for this is the size of the market place.

However, when you really think about, why should anyone care? This is a great time to be a sports fan in Western New York.

For a start, the team now has the long-term security supporters have been craving for the last 20 years (which I’m sure, felt a lot longer). With Terry and his wife Kim Pegula in charge, the franchise isn’t going anywhere.

It also helps that this is arguably the Bills best roster since they last made the playoffs, in 1999. This belief was only further reinforced by the dominating season-opening win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Don’t forget that the franchise also set a record for season ticket sales. In total, they sold 60,102 season tickets for the 2015 campaign.

Overall, Bills fans have a lot to be excited and, more importantly, proud about. If the team can finally return to the playoffs, Forbes’ rankings will be the last thing on their minds.
