Buffalo Bills Circling the Wagons: Karlos Williams, Rex Ryan

More from Buffalo Bills News

We are on the eve of the Buffalo Bills second preseason game where Tyrod Taylor will get the start against the Cleveland Browns and it seems that as each day passes a new injury arises to a player that is or could be in line to be a influential player for the Buffalo Bills this season.

Here are your daily links for the Buffalo Bills from around the web.

The Bad News Bills

"Rex Ryan stood at the podium in January when he was introduced as the Buffalo Bills new head coach and announced to the world how he was going to shape his new team with fire and brimstone. “We’re going to build a bully,” he said. “We’re not afraid of anybody.” So far, Ryan has been true to his word.Football is crowded with big, mean specimens who are turned loose each week with the prime objective of annihilating the team standing in front of them. This is not lost on coaches like Ryan, who has crafted a reputation as a foul-mouthed motivator of men who runs teams a lot like John Madden used to preside over the renegade Oakland Raiders of the 1970s."

Report: Bills rookie RB Karlos Williams to miss multiple weeks with injury

"Buffalo Bills rookie running back Karlos Williams will likely miss multiple weeks with an undisclosed injury, according to a report from Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News.Dunne reported that Williams’ injury was “serious” after he was hospitalized after waking up in severe pain Monday. The 22-year-old led Buffalo with 14 rushing attempts in the team’s preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers on Friday. He finished with 40 yards rushing and one touchdown, while also catching two passes for 23 yards."

GM Doug Whaley: Bills are ‘a national brand now with Rex’

"Typically in the NFL, a team becomes a national brand through its quarterback or star players. That’s not the case with the Buffalo Bills, according to general manager Doug Whaley.Whaley and the Bills lack star power at quarterback, which is a real problem. Not only does it make Buffalo a forgotten team, but it sets the team back with regards to being successful. In Whaley’s mind, however, Buffalo is back on the map thanks to Rex Ryan."

Ty Powell injury creates opportunity for Buffalo Bills‘ rookie linebacker AJ Tarpley

"Up until Monday afternoon, A.J. Tarpley was just the quiet, undrafted rookie keeping to himself in the Buffalo Bills‘ linebackers’ room. A third-stringer at both MIKE and WILL linebacker, he was considered a bubble roster guy at best and a long-shot at worst. Then, as tends to happen in the NFL, everything changed with one play. Bills’ second-team linebacker Ty Powell, who has drawn consistent praise from the coaching staff throughout the offseason, went down in a heap on the turf at St. John Fisher College during a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns. Trainers carted Powell of the field while he clutched his right leg. An ACL injury landed him on injured reserve Tuesday morning."

E.J. Manuel cedes that he might not last with Buffalo Bills

"In the new era of fully guaranteed contracts for first-round draft picks, it’s rare that you’ll see a team run off a No. 1 overall selection before their four-year contract is up. They’ve already made such a significant investment, that it behooves them to give the player every possible opportunity. However, occasionally it doesn’t work out like that.In 2013, the Buffalo Bills spent their No. 16 overall pick on Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel. Two seasons and 14 less-than-impressive starts later, Manuel looks like the odd-man out in the Buffalo Bills’ three-man race to determine a starting quarterback. And Manuel is feeling the pressure, admitting to the Associated Press that he understands he’ll be out of Buffalo if he doesn’t perform better."
