Deonte Thompson

If there’s one guy who’s got Goodwin nervous, it’s Deonte Thompson. The Belle Glade, Florida native introduced himself to the world in spectacular fashion, with a 51 yard touchdown reception against the Panthers.

In many ways, this will have come as no surprise to his former team, the Baltimore Ravens. John Harbaugh and company constantly raved about Thompson’s 4.3 speed.

Of course, all the speed in the world doesn’t mean much without production, as evidenced by just 15 catches in 14 professional games (including no receptions in one game for the Bills last season). The 26-year old is currently on the outside looking in, but more games like the one against the Panthers, and he can snatch that final spot from Goodwin.

2014 receiving statistics: No catches

Statistics versus Panthers: Two catches for 61 yards and one touchdown

Will he make the cut? More results like the Panthers game, and he’ll overtook Goodwin

Next: Will need to rely on his return skills to make the roster
