By Dennis Amo
The Buffalo Bills are on a break for about 6 weeks, until July 20th, we they head up to St. John FIsher to begin training camp.
Here are your daily links for the Buffalo Bills from around the web.
Ryans gives Bills‘ offense a chance to break on high note
"One day after some atrocious quarterback performances in minicamp 11-on-11 drills, Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan decided his offense needed a little help.So on Thursday, during the team’s final workout of the offseason, he kept his starting defensive line (as well as most of the rest of the No. 1 unit) off the field in full team sessions. As a result, the passing game looked significantly better – that is, at least for EJ Manuel, who showed the most consistent sharpness with his throws while working with the starting offense. Matt Cassel, who also worked with the starting offense, still had some issues, and Tyrod Taylor and Matt Simms didn’t exactly light things up while working as backups."
Bills notebook: Kouandjio makes offseason strides
"After a disappointing rookie season in which he never saw the field as an offensive lineman, Cyrus Kouandjio might be finally making a breakthrough with the Buffalo Bills.Coach Rex Ryan said Thursday the performance of the 2014 second-round draft pick from Alabama during offseason drills “probably puts him ahead” of Seantrel Henderson at offensive tackle. Kouandjio has worked at right tackle, where Henderson started for all 16 games as a rookie last season, during the three-day mandatory minicamp that ended Thursday while Henderson worked as a backup.“But, again, the race isn’t over by a long shot, so we’ll see,” Ryan said."
Tight end Matthew Mulligan signs with the Bills
"Head coach Rex Ryan continues to add former players from the New York Jets as he enters his first season as a coach for the Buffalo Bills. On Thursday, the Bills announced that they signed tight end Matthew Mulligan to the roster. Mulligan played in 34 games with the Jets and Rex Ryan from 2009-2011."
Andre Reed joins Bills as coaching intern
"Andre Reed is one of the best players to ever wear a Buffalo Billsuniform. He was a key cog on the Bills teams that made four straight Super Bowls from 1990-1993. After a highly successful career, Reed was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014.While Reed’s playing days are over, he still wants to make an impact on the field for the Bills. As the team started its mandatory minicamp this week, Reed joined the Bills as a coaching intern. Reed is one of seven coaches who will be with the Bills through training camp as part of the Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship."
Manuel Shines As Bills Wrap Up Minicamp
"“As far as mincamp practices go, the Bills offense could not have looked much worse than it did on Wednesday. To give the offense a chance today, Rex Ryan kept his 1st team defensive line off the field during team drills. The whole offense and EJ Manuel specifically looked a lot better. A nice sendoff for the final day at mandatory minicamp.Rex Ryan/Bills Head Coach: ” You guys posted every stat known to man in there. I am like ‘Alright that’s enough, big boys ain’t in there today.’ So it is a little easier to function when that front four ain’t in there. You know we did that a little bit. When you combine talent with scheme it is going to be pretty spectacular over on the other side I believe.”"
