After trading Kiko Alonso away to the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Rex Ryan has a big hole to fill in the linebacking corps. However, Alonso isn’t the only top linebacker Ryan may lose on his defense; Brandon Spikes is still flirting with the possibility of returning next season but it’s unlikely due to the price tag that comes with him.
Perryman was a versatile linebacker for Miami in his four years playing for the Hurricanes. He received All-ACC honors his Junior season playing outside before moving back to his original spot inside his Senior season when he was voted first-team All-ACC as well as being named third-team All-American.
Like Tomlinson, Perryman may not fall all the way down to the 50th pick but if he does, there’s little chance that Whaley and Ryan will pass on his services.
