The Buffalo Bills are just a few pieces away from being a true playoff contender building through free agency will be key for a team that is under a coaching regime and has new philosophies on the Offensive and Defensive sides of the ball in place. I have been using fanspeak.com manage the cap tool to help simulate the offseason. Now the Bills will be losing players at a few positions, the Safety position held by Da’norris Searcy will be vacated because of his elevated play and the amount of money he’s looking to get for his next contract. Inside Linebacker will be one with some questions as Brandon Spikes looks at a diminished role and salary if he decides to stay with the Buffalo Bills. The Offensive line looked atrocious last year and will look to upgrade in key spots. Richie Incognito was already added this offseason to help at the Bills most needed position and look for the Bills to add two more players at the guard and possibly tackle position when it is all said and done. Another position that the Bills may look to add competition to is on special teams at punter. Colton Schmidt was a great addition last year and the Bills could look just to bring someone in to push the sophomore player. Finally we move to Quarterback where the Bills could look to a younger option if they don’t think incumbent EJ Manuel is the man for the job or they could possibly go with a veteran Quarterback who could push EJ Manuel in camp and mentor him in the game to help Manuel further his career. The first signings I had to make were the resigning of Marcus Easley and Lee Smith (two of my favorite Bills players today). I then had to “cut” Marcell Dareus and resign him to 7 year 8 million per with 75% of the contract guaranteed with a 5 million signing bonus. Also I cut Kraig Urbik because although he’s a decent back up the Bills already have two guards in that role in the over paid Chris Williams and Cyril Richardson. Re-signing Jarius Wynn and Jerry Hughes tied up loose end on the Defensive Line(yes I know I buried the lead on that one. Hughes Resigned to a 8.7 million per year for 6 years and with a 5 million signing bonus. Hughes signs a team and Hughes friendly contract that locks him up through his prime. Now with all players locked up that were considered essential we start in on Free Agency.
