The first week of Bills camp looked to be positive as we hit the weekend. The Mario scandal is all good now and everything seems to be moving along. The news coming down today about Stevie is not what you want to see but its still early. Both quarterbacks are getting comfortable and the rookies seem to be to getting acclimated. From this week alone I have heard people talking about us having potential great players in the years to come but what about now? Stephon Gilmore is the guy I have in mind.
Gilmore getting ready to enter his second year with the Bills is unquestionably the team’s top corner. No question he will be the guy to cover the top receiver every week. Last year he took a little time to get adjusted to the pro gameplay but when he figured it out people could have never known he was a rookie. I’m hoping with his second year he can start off right away and be seen around the league as people here in Buffalo see him.
So far during training camp he has started off good. His coverage is spot on and he continues to do what he does and it ends up in results. He has multiple interceptions already and also plenty of pass break ups. I know you’re going to say its only training camp and your right but they are here to get ready for the season and if you can get in that game ready groove now and play well the confidence come week 1 will be sky high. Another thing seen so far in camp is how comfortable he is with the physicality at the line of scrimmage. That little bit of jostling for position and dictating the start of the play is very helpful and will give him the upper hand.
As we wait for the first preseason game to come around the constant hard work being put in will only help Gilmore. Reports have come out that the coaching staff is very excited for Gilmore and from what everyone has seen how couldn’t they be? So for people waiting for potential stars we may see there is one that will for sure be known throughout the league this year.
