NFL Mock Draft Week Two: The Bills Select…

For the second week in a row we are taking a look at the mockdraft over on the main Fansided site to see who the Bills are projected to take. Last week Fansided had the Bills taking LSU defensive end Barkevious Mingo. This week they have the team going a different direction, a direction that I advocated last week.
With the eighth overall selection in this week’s mock draft the Bills select linebacker Manti Te’o out of Notre Dame. Playing position that the Bills are in need of improving, Te’o would be an excellent addition to a defense that seems to be missing only a few parts.
"The Buffalo Bills would be ecstatic to have Te’o fall into their laps. Te’o is arguably the best player in this year’s draft class, but he falls due to his position. Te’o is an incredible leader on the field and has proven to be a model citizen off the field. Buffalo will be tempted to select a quarterback in the first-round, but outside of Geno Smith there is no signal-caller worthy of a top ten pick."
The Bills need to add another linebacker, in my eyes it is their weakest position. Neither Kelvin Sheppard nor Nigel Bradham have impressed all that much. If the Bills defense is going to improve they will need to fix their weakest link.
With Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones likely being long gone before the Bills make their selection, T’eo would obviously be the best available player at the position. He has had an impressive season, so much so that he was named one of three finalists for this year’s Heisman Trophy.
As Fansided’s Josh Sanchez mentions, the Bills would very much like to select a quarterback in the draft. That being said, there aren’t many worth taking. First round quarterback talent is hard to come by in 2013. Even the top picks come with many questions. If the Bills want to solve this problem by next season they will likely need to look elsewhere.
With the first pick in the draft the Chiefs took West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith. Mingo, who they had the Bills selecting last week, went second overall to the Jaguars. The only other quarterback taken was Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson (No. 11, Cardinals). Matt Barkley of USC went from being taken first overall to falling completely out of the first round.
What do you think about Manti T’eo in a Bills uniform? Is this a better pick than last week? Tell us what you think in the comment section!
