Bills vs. Jets key players to watch
Buffalo Bills
Khalil Shakir: After the surprise release of Isaiah McKenzie, Khalil Shakir is expect to slot in as the No. 3 option in the passing game for the Bills. He showed some solid flashes last year, including hauling in three catches for 51 yards in their wild card playoff win against the Dolphins. He could be a name that's going to slot into a productive role for Buffalo in 2023.
New York Jets
Breece Hall: Sometimes I think people forget just how good Breece Hall was before he got injured last season. He ran the ball for 80 times in his rookie season, accumulating 463 yards for 5.8 yards per carry. He was the betting favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year at the time. Now that he's entering his second year, it's going to be interesting to see if he can move on past his injury and start right where he left off.
Bills vs. Jets prediction and pick
The Jets had one of the top defenses in the NFL last season and now they have a former MVP at QB in Aaron Rodgers, but yet I'm still not convinced enough to bet on them in Week 1. I think the Jets are a team that may get better as the season progresses, but Rodgers may need time to start to gel in a new offense with new teammates.
Also, let's not forget just how good this Bills team is. They lead the AFC last season in average scoring margin at +8.6. They seem to be somehow underrated heading into 2023, despite returning largely the same team they had last season.
The Bills are a tough task in Week 1 for a Jets team that's looking to be a contender in 2023. They may get there by the end of the season, but I don't think they'll be ready to compete at Buffalo's level quite yet.
