Fred Jackson Ready For Competition At RB

Fred Jackson was the primary back for most of the season last year, even though C.J. Spiller was here as well.  Both did deal with injuries but Jackson lead the team in carries with 141 and had over 500 yards on the ground.  He looks to keep his crown of primary back for the Buffalo Bills.

Fred Jackson knows that the Buffalo Bills brought in an elite running back in LeSean McCoy and paid him a hefty contract, and Jackson also knows that this was not done for McCoy to come in as a back-up either.  Fred Jackson does have something to say about that and is not going to be giving his starting job up easier, he is going to make it difficult for LeSean McCoy to just come in and take the reigns.

"“They want him to take the majority of the load,” Jackson told the Buffalo News. “But I’m not going to make it easy for him. I’m not going to just hand it to him and say, ‘Here’s the job.’”– PFT.com"

This should make it an interesting competition in the backfield during training camp.  As Fred Jackson and LeSean McCoy compete you also have to figure in at least Bryce Brown into the mix as well.  Brown and McCoy played together in Philadelphia and McCoy even stated that he though Brown would win the starting position when he was traded over.

Without knowing exactly what Rex Ryan is thinking beyond winning, training camp and the running back competition will be a definite position battle to keep an eye on this summer.

"“I don’t know what my role is going to be yet,” he said. “I’m going to push him. Every time I get a chance to touch the ball, I’m going to make every play that I can when I’m out there. So, hopefully, by me doing that, I’ll make him take his game to the next level.”– PFT.com"

It will be a fun and exciting rest of the offseason for the fans of the Buffalo Bills.  The Draft is next to come in just a couple of weeks.
