Bills Vision- Hindsight is 20:10

The 2010 draft and season has allowed the GM and fans to move forward as an organization and cut the strings of an old era. Buddy Nix and Chan Gaily have a vision for the team and have implemented it quickly and efficiently. They cut the old team and are infusing the team with youth at the player level and experience in the personnel department.

The 2010 season has allowed Buddy Nix to evaluate the organization from top to bottom and cut the pieces which he saw holding his organization behind. The cuts started with the draft. Nix knew the players who he would be evaluating and drafted accordingly.

The goal of the draft was to fill the holes left by the cuts Nix would soon make.  Spiller, Troup, and the rest of the 2010 draft class were all replacement parts in the machine Nix is building. This draft’s purpose was to sit and not affect the evaluation of the old team.  After the jump is a summary of  One Bills Drive’s plans that have been revealed by South Park’s Captain Hindsight.

Trent Edwards was the team’s first casualty. Nix needed him as a sacrificial lamb, and had to show the fans that Trent was not the player Bill Walsh thought he was. After 4 weeks of failure, Trent was released and Fitz stepped in and, as the season progressed, stepped up to claim the reigns. The next move that Nix would make was Marshawn Lynch. While yes, Beast Mode showed up in the playoffs, I prefer the roster now with the upside of Spiller behind Freddy as opposed to Lynch’s antics in fine establishments like TGI Friday’s.

Some other players who have been shown the door by the GM/Coach axe tandem are Marcus Stroud, Kawika Mitchell, Chris Ellis and Aaron Schobel. All these players are symbols of the Dick Jauron days when it was acceptable to keep perceived talent rather than actual talent. With these players cut the upcoming 53 man roster will be filled with players who have the talent and can perform on the field.

What has been the result of the Buddy and Chan purge? Look at Stevie Johnson, Arthur Moats, Demetrius Bell and Kyle Williams. All these players and select others are the future of the Bills. The future of the Buffalo Bills is safe with Chix at the helm if they keep building and evaluating the team as they have done so far.
