The Buffalo Bills shocked the NFL world with the hiring of Joe Brady as their next head coach, but it’s a move that shouldn’t be surprising at all. It helps keep continuity in the building and on the offense. In addition, it brings a different mindset to the table and maybe that is what the Bills need.

This will be Brady’s first go as a head coach in the NFL, but his coaching career started at William & Mary and his first NFL job was with the New Orleans Saints under Sean Payton. He was also part of that legendary 2019 LSU team that had Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, and Ja’Marr Chase. Brady was the pass game coordinator and the wide receiver coach.

Brady then became the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, lasting just two seasons before an overhaul of the organization. He would eventually join the Bills as their quarterbacks coach, and then work his way up to now the head coach for the team.

During his tenure with the Saints, Brady had the chance to be around linebacker Demario Davis, who has been with the Saints since 2018, which was Brady’s last season there. Despite them two being together for just that one season, Davis had some great things to say about him on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams.

“Well deserved”, said Davis when being asked about the move and the fit with the Bills. “He’s one of those guys that players feel like they relate to and connect with” said Davis.

Demario Davis gives high praise to Joe Brady being hired as Bills' new HC

The fact that Davis said this about Brady, despite them two being on different sides of the ball and just one year together down in New Orleans, is very much reassuring about this move by the Bills. Having a head coach that has gained a great amount of respect by players over the years and has also been a great coach in the Bills’ building is great to have.

I’m not saying that Sean McDermott didn’t have the respect, but the Bills hiring Brady brings a new perspective to the team. Something that Buffalo hasn’t had in a long time. We now just have to wait and see how it plays out moving forward.
