The worst-kept secret in the NFL has officially been revealed as quarterback Kyler Murray is signing with the Minnesota Vikings after spending the last seven seasons for the Arizona Cardinals. The two-time Pro Bowler will come to the Vikings on a very minimal contract as Murray is still getting paid by Arizona, and this is a great pickup for Kevin O’Connell. The Vikings have an issue at quarterback with J.J. McCarthy and bringing in Murray brings in not just immediate help, but if this thing plays out as Murray being the better quarterback then maybe the Vikings will move on from McCarthy.
Now granted, Murray isn’t a top quarterback himself but he can be utilized better in O’Connell’s system and he will have players like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson to throw to. It’s not a bad setup at all for Murray.
You might be asking why Murray heading to the Vikings has anything to do with the Bills, and the answer is that with this signing, Buffalo could very well be playing against Murray as the Bills will travel to Minnesota to play the Vikings in the 2026 season.

The Bills have played against Murray twice in his career, splitting the series. Their first matchup against each other was in 2020 where the Bills lost on the infamous “Hail Murray” where Murray connected with DeAndre Hopkins on a Hail Mary pass to upset the Bills at the end of the game.
Buffalo and Arizona then faced off in Week 1 of the 2024 season where it was a surprisingly competitive game until the end, but the Bills got the win in front of Bills Mafia.
With Murray now landing in Minnesota, he has a great chance at being the starter ahead of McCarthy and the Bills could very well have to gameplan against him rather than McCarthy. Murray is not a phenomenal quarterback, but he’s not a bad one either.
If the Bills do end up having to play against Murray, they are going to need to prepare for his ability to scramble quickly out of the pocket. Not to mention, Murray has one of the strongest arms in the league that doesn’t get talked about. Him being in Minnesota adds a new dynamic to the offense and the Bills defense will have to find a way to respond quickly to it.
