Week 1 is in the books for the AFC East and we have two winners to go with two losers from this week. The AFC East was featured in the season opener last Wednesday where the New England Patriots went out to the west coast to take on the Seattle Seahawks, then the rest played on Sunday.

All four AFC East teams were on the road this week, which is a bit of a surprise, but now three out of the four will be back at their respective homes in Week 2. The Buffalo Bills will kick off Week 2 on Thursday Night Football as they will host the Detroit Lions in their home opener in their new Highmark Stadium. The Bills are looking to build off of their impressive 36-31 win over the Houston Texans.

Week 1 wraps up tonight between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs, so we have the updated AFC East standings after a fantastic Week 1.

AFC East standings after Week 1

1.) Buffalo Bills (1-0) - def. Texans, 36-31

The Bills went down to Houston and took down the Texans in a very surprising 36-31 high-scoring game. Typically, these two teams have low-scoring games because of great defensive play. That wasn't the case this time.

Josh Allen was a star with over 350 total yards and 4 total touchdowns. DJ Moore and Dalton Kincaid shined in the passing attack. The offense overall was moving greatly. As for the defense, while players like Greg Rousseau and Deone Walker played great, the unit was a liability against Houston.

They will now have to clean up their mistakes on a short week and get ready for a tough Detroit Lions team.

2.) New York Jets (1-0) - def. Titans, 23-10

That's right, the Jets are 1-0 to start their season after their 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans. The main storyline was their defense and how they embarrased the offense that is led by Cam Ward and former Bills (now current Titans) OC, Brian Daboll.

The Jets faced their old head coach in Robert Saleh, who had the change to get revenge on them. Instead, the Jets walked into Nashville and dominated from start to finish. Them and the Bills are the two teams that started off 1-0 in the division.

3.) Miami Dolphins (0-1) - lost to Raiders, 27-13

The rebuild for the Dolphins kicked off on the west coast against the Las Vegas Raiders. Miami came into this season not expected to do much, and they are on that path after Week 1. They flew across the country just to lose to a Raiders team that is also in the middle of a rebuild (atleast on offense), but the Raiders still managed to put up 27 points on Miami’s defense.

Miami’s star running back De’Von Achane was limited to 36 rushing yards and Malik Willis was sacked 5 times by Las Vegas. This is the start of a very long season for the Dolphins.

4.) New England Patriots (0-1) - lost to Seahawks, 13-10

Coming in at last in the division after the first week is the defending AFC champion New England Patriots. Just like the Dolphins, the Patriots flew out west to take on the team that embarrassed them in last year’s Super Bowl, the Seattle Seahawks.

The Patriots looked like they were going to be able to win this game, especially when Sam Darnold went down early with an injury and never returned. However, three 4th quarter interceptions by Drake Maye (and him losing A.J. Brown to an ankle injury) cost the Patriots this game and now they are at the bottom of the division.
