Week 8 will wrap up tonight as the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks take on each other in what could be a huge game for playoff seeding in the NFC. However, the week is over for the AFC East and the standings have stayed the same.
The Buffalo Bills remain on top, but they couldn’t get help in the division from the Dolphins as they failed to hold off the Patriots. If Miami had beaten New England, the Bills would have a lot of comfort room.
We've got the AFC East standings with Week 8 behind us, along with each team's next opponent on their respective schedules.
Updated AFC East standings after Week 8
1.) Buffalo Bills (6-1)
Def. Baltimore Ravens, 36-10
The Buffalo Bills came out of their bye week looking to make a statement against a tough Baltimore Ravens team that was getting desperate. The Bills made the statement with a 36-10 win, but it was in a fashion that a lot of people didn't expect.
The Ravens lost QBs Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley to injuries in the first half, which put Joe Fagnano in the game under center for the Ravens. Their offense had no chance which allowed the Bills to take advantage and run away with this game.
Buffalo moves to 6-1 on the season and they stay on top of the AFC East for another week going into a tough Week 9 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
2.) New England Patriots (5-3)
Def. Miami Dolphins, 24-19
After losing a thriller of a game in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears, the New England Patriots bounced back with a close 24-19 win down in south beach against the Miami Dolphins.
This game was fairly close for most of the game, but it turned into who could make the one better play and that happened to be the Patriots. They remain right behind Buffalo in the division and still own the tiebreaker over them.
New England will head back to Foxborough as they will now prepare for Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers.
3.) New York Jets (2-6)
Loss vs. Las Vegas Raiders, 38-33
The Jets went from 2-3 to now dropping their last three games to fall to 2-6 after their latest high-scoring loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. This was one of the best games to watch of the weekend from an offensive point of view. The Jets ended up blowing a two-score lead in the 3rd quarter and the Raiders finished the game strong to send the Jets another loss.
The Jets will now hit the road for a Week 9 battle with the Kansas City Chiefs who are coming off a last-second loss against the Denver Broncos.
4.) Miami Dolphins (1-6)
Loss vs. New England Patriots, 24-19
After picking up their first win of the season last week against the Jets, the Dolphins had another divisional matchup against the Patriots. However, the result was different for the Dolphins. They kept it close against New England, but in the end, the Patriots closed it out with a 24-19 win to hand the Dolphins their 6th loss of the season.
Miami continues to look like one of the worst teams record-wise, but there is no doubt that they can compete. They just don't have enough talent to have a successful season in 2026. The Dolphins will remain in Miami and get ready for the Detroit Lions to come to town in Week 9.
