The AFC East is all set with Week 3 and there are a few takeaways. First, the Bills were the only team in the division to win their respective game this week. Second, the Patriots had the worst loss between them, the Jets, and the Dolphins. Finally, the Bills officially have a two-game lead going into Week 4 where they will host the New England Patriots.
Buffalo didn't have the best win, but they are the only team in the division to leave this week with the win. All other teams have now fallen back even more behind the Bills. Week 3 will wrap up tonight between the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears, but the AFC East has their updated standings going into Week 4.
Updated AFC East standings after Week 3
1.) Buffalo Bills (3-0)
Def. Los Angeles Chargers, 24-16
Let's face it, the Bills were undeserving of this win against the Chargers. They played sloppy football for nearly four quarters on offense, but the defense bailed them out almost every time. At the same time, the offense came up big when they needed it and now they are going into Week 4 as the lone undefeated team in the division.
However, they will turn their sights to the New England Patriots, who beat the Bills in Orchard Park last season.
2.) New York Jets (1-2)
Lost to Detroit Lions, 31-24
Even though the Jets have fallen to 1-2, they have played some good football through three games. Despite their back-to-back losses, they took the Packers and Lions to the wire and only lost by one score (one of them being in overtime). However, they lost a close 31-24 game against the Lions in Aaron Glenn’s return to Detroit.
They will now take on their third consecutive NFC North opponent next week when they take on the Chicago Bears.
3.) New England Patriots (1-2)
Lost to Jacksonville Jaguars, 35-6
Well, well, well...who would have thought this would be the case for the Patriots early on this season? The Patriots are back in the loss column after getting completely blown out by the Jacksonville Jaguars, 35-6, in a game where Drake Maye had 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles, finishing with a QB rating of 15.5.
New England will be back on the road in Week 4 when they come to Orchard Park to take on the 3-0 Bills in what will be a great matchup in the early time slot.
4.) Miami Dolphins (0-3)
Lost to Kansas City Chiefs, 24-10
We all knew that the Dolphins were going to be bad this season, but they are starting to become unwatchable at this point. They dropped their third straight game against the Chiefs down in South Florida, losing 24-10. However, their biggest loss that they took involved De'Von Achane who may have suffered a "major knee injury" per Ian Rapoport.
Things are going from bad to worse for the Dolphins, who are still looking for their first win. For Week 4, they will be traveling up to Minneosta to take on the Vikings.
