Week 6 finishes up tonight on Monday Night Football between the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers, but the week is finished for the teams in the AFC East. This week, the division featured two wins and one loss, but there were no blowouts.
There are no changes this week from last week, but the race for the No. 1 spot remains alive between the Bills and Patriots, while the Jets are limping along and the Dolphins remain as one of the two winless teams left in the NFL.
Updated AFC East standings after Week 6
1.) Buffalo Bills (5-1)
Def. Las Vegas Raiders, 33-30
The Bills have finished their two-week West Coast trip at 2-0 to improve to 5-1 on the season. After a thrilling Week 5 primetime win over the Los Angeles Rams, they earned a hard-fought 33-30 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Bills' offense has had to pick up the defense's mistakes which has been the team's identity this season. So far, it's working...but Joe Brady and Jim Leonhard have some work to do over the bye week going into Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens.
2.) New England Patriots (4-2)
Def. New York Jets, 26-19
After starting the season at 1-2, the Patriots have ripped off 3 consecutive wins with their latest one being a divisional matchup against the New York Jets, winning 26-19. The Patriots' offense was just short of 400 total yards, and their defense made the necessary plays to hold off the Jets. Despite them holding the tiebreaker over the Bills, they remain behind them in the division.
The Patriots have a short week coming up as they will be on Thursday Night Football where they will be traveling to Chicago to take on Caleb Williams and the Bears.
3.) New York Jets (2-4)
Lost vs. New England Patriots, 26-19
The Jets are back in the loss column after a close loss to the Patriots. It was a hard-fought battle on their end, but the Patriots have always had the Jets' number, and that proved again in this matchup.
They will get ready for another divisional game next week as they will take on the Miami Dolphins who are coming off a bye week and still searching for their first win of the season.
4.) Miami Dolphins (0-5)
Bye Week
The Dolphins were on a bye week and they will now be turning their focus on the New York Jets next Sunday.
