The Buffalo Bills ended their training camp at St. John Fisher University this past Friday, while finally showcasing a familiar face that the Bills Mafia hasn't seen in over a year. It was encouraging to see the Bills' veteran place kicker come out and demonstrate what he can bring to the team.

While Tyler Bass has been working with new holders, it was like old times seeing him out there on the field with punters Mitch Wishnowsky and Tommy Doman Jr.

It was like he was never gone

Tyler Bass was on the field showcasing his talents as per ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg:

"A significant first came from kicker Tyler Bass at practice. Returning after missing the entire 2025 season with a sports hernia, Bass practiced kickoffs and field goals on the main training camp field for the first time this camp. He went 5-of -7, with both misses coming from 45- plus yards. Bass had kicked once in a practice open to the media in the spring." Getzenberg stated.

Tyler Bass working to regain his edge

While the team deliberately kept Bass out of kicking drills during live practices until Day 6 of training camp, Bass stated he was grateful for how the team was able to work him back into the mix.

"Just the whole organization, I think, Joe [Brady], Jeff... have done a great job of just integrating me at the right pace," Bass said. "And just letting me be the best version of myself, and that's where I'm seeing a lot of growth in." per Getzenberg.

For the past five years of his career, Bass has been an efficient kicker who needs to improve at staying healthy for 17 games and at keeping his composure during pressure kicks in the postseason.

The skilled kicker has kicked 1333 of 155 attempts, including a career-long 61-yard field goal against the Miami Dolphins at home in 2024. Bass also has a career high of 264 made extra points out of 274 attempts.

2023 postseason woes

In the 2023 playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Bass missed a 44-yard field goal wide right in the final two minutes of the game, in which the Bills lost 27-24.

With Bass looking like he's ready to get back up on the ladder and get back to work on his field goal kicking, now is the time for him to start practicing at the new Highmark Stadium to help him regain back the trust and support of his team and Bills Mafia.
