When the Buffalo Bills made the tough, but necessary decision to release Tre’Davious White last offseason, it was a weird feeling seeing as how he was the first draft pick in the Sean McDermott era. After the Bills traded back from No. 10 to No. 27 in 2017, they acquired White from LSU and he became an instant fan-favorite not just because of his funny personality, but also his production in the secondary.

Early on his career, according to the Buffalo Bills PR, White became the 4th player in franchise history with atleast two interceptions in each of his first four seasons. He also was a First-Team All-Pro voted player in 2019, and a Second-Team All-Pro player in 2020. White was a two-time Pro Bowler in Buffalo in 2020 and 2021.

However, two-ending injuries in 2021 and 2023 put a major decline on his production at the end of his first stint with the Bills. He hasn’t been the same player since his torn ACL in November of 2021. After having a full offseason to recover from that injury, he would then tear his achilles in 2023 which we thought would be the final writing on the wall of his career with the Bills. After the 2023 season, White was released as part of a process where the Bills had a major mess of a salary cap situation.

White is now back in Buffalo after signing with the Los Angeles Rams, and then was eventually traded to the Baltimore Ravens mid-season last year. He struggled with the Rams, but had a little bit of a bounce back stint with the Ravens. His last memory with the Ravens will be when the Bills knocked the Ravens out of the playoffs that put Buffalo in the AFC championship game.

It was after that game, according to Jay Skurski, that White had made it clear to members of the Bills that he wanted to return to Baltimore.

Tre'Davious White wanted to be back in Buffalo

White spoke with the media on Tuesday and he expressed how after the Ravens lost to the Bills in the divisional round last postseason, he wanted to come back to Buffalo, the place that help become an All-Pro early on in his career. Now he is back on a one-year deal, hoping that not only can he bring some production to the secondary, but ultimately help the Bills win their first Super Bowl.

With the signing of White, the Bills grab an immediate bandage to their CB2 position, but Brandon Beane still needs to draft someone for the future. Whether it’s in the first or second round, this week’s NFL Draft should feature the Bills leaving with a player who can play opposite of Christian Benford beyond the 2025 season.
