Tough Week 1 shows why Joe Brady's confidence should get more credit

After a back-and-forth battle with a tough Houston Texans team, the Buffalo Bills are heading back up to Orchard Park with a 1-0 record after beating the Texans in Houston for the first time since 2006. This was Josh Allen’s first win in Houston of his career, and it was Joe Brady’s first win of his head coaching tenure.

When Brady was hired by the Bills to replace Sean McDermott, there were a lot of mixed emotions on the decision, but now Brady did something that McDermott never did, which was win a game in Houston. Sure, it may not be the biggest deal in the world, but it's been two decades since Buffalo last won in Houston.

In addition, Brady calling the plays on offense didn't miss a beat as the Bills put up 36 points which included Josh Allen throwing for over 300 yards and having 4 total touchdowns. There was more of a vertical threat, which Brady deserves credit for.

After the win, Brady spoke with the media and he was asked about what he was thinking when the Texans took the lead in the 4th quarter to go up by one point. Brady never flinched, and he helped Buffalo get into the endzone with less than two minutes left before Buffalo's defense closed out the game.

"I live for those moments. I love it...this is perfect. You don't want to shy away from those moments." said Brady, per Jenna Cottrell of 13WHAM.

"You see that opportunity and seeing Josh [Allen] 'hey look man, I'm taking a shot right there, and Josh Palmer, who he trusted, it's kind of who we have to be; making sure that they have to play us and not the other way around." Brady added, per Cottrell.

For anyone who still had doubts about Joe Brady and how he was going to handle the start of his tenure, there shouldn’t be anymore going forward. Sure, he’s bound to make a mistake as all coaches do. At the same time, going down to Houston and taking down a tough Texans team that has one of the best defenses in the league is absolutely great to see for Bills fans.

The Bills played a lot more differently than they have in years prior under Sean McDermott. It felt like they were playing to win, and not to just lose. Buffalo wasn’t always aggressive under McDermott, and it caused frustration. Now with Brady calling the shots, it seems like there is a new approach for the better for Buffalo.
