There are still a number of notable free agents who are available on the open market as April arrives and turns league focus to the NFL Draft. The Buffalo Bills have been largely quiet throughout free agency, and that isn’t expected to change ahead of the draft. But that doesn’t mean the team shouldn’t be keeping tabs on some of those names.
At least one in particular is worth monitoring just to see if the Bills will have to face him once again this season. That, of course, is former Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Diggs played for the rival New England Patriots, suiting up in Super Bowl LX even. But New England cut bait with the 31-year-old wideout after the first season of his three-year deal, and now he’s looking for another team to join in 2026.
Baltimore Ravens emerge as logical landing spot for ex-Bills WR Stefon Diggs
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox recently took a look at some of the top veteran names still on the free agent market and played match-maker with NFL teams who could best make use of their services. For Diggs, his fit seems to be apparent with the Baltimore Ravens.
“Quarterback Lamar Jackson would benefit from an improved receiving corps. Diggs would be a great addition alongside Zay Flowers and Rashad Bateman,” Knox wrote on Wednesday. “Diggs could be the dependable go-to target for Jackson that [DeAndre] Hopkins never became.”
Diggs would be an intriguing fit for the Ravens' offense, which doesn’t need a No. 1 receiver so much as a welcome compliment to Flowers. Diggs may well be able to offer that. After all, while he’s clearly not the same player he was in Buffalo any longer, he did catch 85 passes for 1,013 yards last season, and was on pace for a strong campaign in Houston before his ACL tear in 2024.
The mention of Hopkins by Knox is noteworthy. Some would point to why it’d be a bad fit– after all, one former elite veteran failed, Diggs may do just the same. But it is worth keeping in mind that Hopkins and Diggs have wildly different skillsets. Diggs has enjoyed more consistency in recent seasons, comparatively, as well.
With all of that in mind, should Diggs become a Raven, he’d come to New Highmark Stadium with Baltimore to face the Bills in their new home this season. In two games against Buffalo last season, Diggs caught 13 passes for 182 yards. Granted, 10 catches and 146 yards of that production came in the first meeting, which was in Buffalo. No doubt, he’d look to replicate that performance in the Bills’ new stadium if given the chance.
Of course, Diggs’ off-the-field legal issues could prolong his stay in the free agent market. But the Ravens have needed help at wide receiver in one manner or another for some time, so it stands to reason that Diggs could also stay on their radar while they wait for his legal issues to play out.
Regardless, Bills Mafia may want to begin to prepare to face their former No. 1 receiver once again in 2026. Other 2026 opponents, such as the Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, or even a return to New England, shouldn’t be ruled out as potential landing spots for Diggs either.
