The Buffalo Bills have done a great job at taking care of positions of need this offseason on both sides of the ball. While no position is perfect, fans should be feeling more confident about the Bills going into the summer where we will see plenty of competition on who will get meaningful snap, who will get a roster spot, and who may only be on the practice squad or off the roster completely.

One position that has been surprisingly talked about a lot as a current weakness for the Bills is the left guard position. David Edwards revived his carer with the Bills the last two years on a bargain deal for the Bills, but he cashed in with the New Orleans Saints, leaving a hole on the offensive line.

Even though the Bills re-signed Alec Anderson, signed Austin Corbett, and drafted Jude Bowry who has a great chance to be pushed inside to guard, ESPN’s Aaron Schatz believes that left guard is still the Bills’ biggest roster hole. With that, Schatz provided a potential solution to fix the left guard issue if any fans feel that it needs to be.

Bills suggested to add veteran Joel Bitonio to fill out offensive line

"If the Bills want to add one more veteran free agent who can play left guard, a great option would be Joel Bitonio, who spent his entire career in Cleveland and might be willing to sign for less money with an opportunity to pursue a Super Bowl title in Buffalo." said Schatz.

As a 12-year veteran in the NFL, Bitonio has been a Pro Bowl and All-Pro player for a lot of his career with the Cleveland Browns. Bitonio is one of those players that was overlooked because Cleveland never made any serious noise as a contender.

As of now, Bitonio is a free agent and since he’s never had a serious chance at chasing a Super Bowl, Buffalo could be an ideal landing spot. If the Bills feel that they need to add a temporary bandaid at left guard, Botonio could very well take care of that problem and it would give Buffalo a boost upfront in the trenches.

While left guard is not the biggest need for this team, there are questions on whether or not the Bills will be able to keep Josh Allen protected as well as they have the last two seasons. They may feel that Anderson or Corbett will be just fine and let them two compete. Let’s not forget that the Bills also drafted both Bowry and Ar’Maj Reed-Adams.

There is plenty of depth already, and maybe Buffalo will roll with that rather than paying for another offensive lineman at a higher price.
