Ever since Sean McDermott arrived in Buffalo, the Bills have been brought back to relevancy. There’s only been one season where they haven’t made the playoffs under McDermott and it wasn’t a season where they didn’t have Josh Allen. In 2017, the Bills finished 9-7 and got the final playoff spot, but only scored 3 points in the first round against the Jaguars.
From 2019 and on, the Bills have made the playoffs and have won the last five AFC East division championships. Right now, the Patriots are giving them a bit of a scare but the hope is that the Bills can jump ahead of them at some point before next month.
Now granted, it hasn’t been just McDermott as to why the Bills have turned it around. Josh Allen has been a superstar and the Bills’ offense has done its job to help support the team. At the same time, we have seen McDermott call the defense at times and they show more aggressiveness under him.
McDermott has posted a 92-47 record as the Bills’ head coach which includes 10+ wins over the last six seasons. However, McDermott has not been able to deliver a Super Bowl to Buffalo and there have been times where fans were pushing for a change. Buffalo has built its foundation and it’s extremely hard to believe that they would move on from McDermott unless a huge mess comes about.
Sean McDermott has prime chance to join some big names in NFL history
According to the Buffalo Bills’ PR X account, if the Bills beat the Dolphins, McDermott will get his 100th career win (which includes the playoffs) and can become the 6th head coach in history to achieve that milestone in his first nine seasons. He would join George Sifert, Paul Brown, John Madden, Joe Gibbs, and Mike McCarthy.
In addition, if the Bills beat Miami, this will be their 8th consecutive win against them and it would be the longest win streak against the Dolphins in franchise history.
Kickoff from Hard Rock Stadium is at 1PM and the Bills will be looking to leave south beach with the win and move to 7-2 on the season. Bills Mafia, enjoy the game and let’s hope for yet another season sweep of the Dolphins.
