The Buffalo Bills have been on the road the last two weeks and now they will finish out the regular season at home this week and next week. The Philadelphia Eagles, who just won the NFC East last week, are coming to town for what should be an epic out-of-conference battle.
The Bills already beat one representative from last year’s Super Bowl. Now it’s time to do it again against Philly. However, it won’t be easy. The Eagles have a ton of star players and even with their ups and downs this season, the Bills will be battle tested from start to finish.
There are four players, including star running back Saquon Barkley who the Bills and Bills Mafia should be very concerned about this Sunday.
RB Saquon Barkley
It’s obvious that Barkley was going to be on this list. Sure, maybe he isn’t having the season that he had last year, but he is still a huge threat to any opposing defense. The star running back has rushed for over 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns on the year.
Bills fans know just how bad Buffalo’s run-defense has been this year, and now they will have to find a way to just contain Barkley. Even though Barkley has only rushed for over 100+ yards in three games this year, he still can do some damage against Buffalo.
CB Quinyon Mitchell
As great as Josh Allen is, his lack of help from his wide receiver group won’t help him going up against cornerback Quinyon Mitchell who is having another great season early on in his career. He’s only allowed one touchdown and just 43% of passes completed when being thrown against. Mitchell also leads the Eagles with 17 pass deflections.
WR DeVonta Smith
It was a toss up between putting A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith on here, but I’m going with Smith just because he can stretch the field. The Bills may fall into a trap of finding a way to double cover Brown, which could leave Smith one-on-one which is a bad idea.
Smith hasn’t been dynamite in recent weeks, which puts the Bills in a tough spot to keep that streak up for him. If he gets in the open field and Jalen Hurts sees it, Buffalo’s secondary is going to pay the price.
DT Jalen Carter
According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles are expected to get Jalen Carter back in the lineup after dealing with shoulders injury and he could very well be a huge problem for Buffalo’s offensive line. Carter is a big-time disrupter against the run and pass, which could hurt both Josh Allen and James Cook’s production.
Connor McGovern, O’Cyrus Torrence, and David Edwards will have their hands full with Philly’s interior defensive line, but Carter will be the biggest problem for them by a mile.
