The Buffalo Bills didn’t have an outstanding free agency back in March, but they certainly made some solid additions to start the new look Bills heading into 2026. They went out added some key defensive pieces like Bradley Chubb, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Geno Stone, and Dee Alford. They also traded for DJ Moore to add to the offense.

Through all of the roster changes, as well as coaching changes, the Bills look a lot better than they did back in January after their playoff exiting loss against the Denver Broncos. Buffalo is looking to take back the AFC East from the New England Patriots, who didn't exactly have a great offseason for various reasons.

While they did trade for A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles, it cost them a 2028 1st-round pick, which is just absolutely hilarious seeing as how it didn't seem like any other team was competing for Brown. Nonetheless, the Pats get their No. 1 receiver for Drake Maye.

However, one of their free agent signings that they did make early on in free agency is facing some criticism, which should make Bills smile big.

Patriots' EDGE signing being questioned has Bills fans excited

Seth Walder from ESPN put together offseason grades for each NFL team, as well as what the team's biggest moves, and what moves Walder liked and didn't like. With the focus on the Patriots, the one move that Walder did not like was the signing of edge rusher in Dre'Mont Jones who spent last season with the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens.

"One area that still looks a bit weak is edge rusher. New England lost K'Lavon Chaisson in free agency after a solid season and replaced him with Jones. Putting aside that Chaisson signed with the Commanders for a cheaper contract than Jones was signed to, I would rather have held on to Chaisson, as Jones recorded a pass rush win rate at edge in just the 22nd percentile." said Walder.

New England gave Jones a three-year, $36.5 million deal, making his salary at $12.16 million per year. When you compare it to what the Bills gave Bradley Chubb (three-year, $43.5 million deal, worth $14.5 million per year), the Bills surely got the better deal as Chubb has been more productive in his career than Jones has.

Chubb can provide a consistent pass rush that Jones hasn't shown to do, and the Patriots gave Jones a good-sized contract. Seeing New England make this kind of deal should have Bills fans glad that they get the better edge rusher at a deal that is way more valuable than what New England is getting with Jones.
