The NFL playoffs officially kick off next weekend and for the first time since the 2019 season, the Buffalo Bills are a wild card team. While their seeding has not been locked in just yet, it will be tomorrow.

Right now, they are currently the 7-seed, but they could have the chance to go up to the 5-seed, depending on if they win and the outcomes of both the Chargers’ and Texans’ respective games.

The Bills have a tough road ahead of them, no matter who they play. They haven’t won a road playoff game under Sean McDermott, but considering the teams that are in the playoff picture, the Bills have the most recent playoff success in the AFC.

Obviously, Buffalo has to prove themselves whether they are going up against the best team or worst team in the playoff picture. However, when you look at the quarterbacks that are in the playoffs, Josh Allen surpasses them by a mile.

Let’s not forget, Allen is phenomenal in the playoffs. Buffalo falling short in the playoffs the last couple of seasons has not been on Allen’s shoulders. If Buffalo can play complimentary football each game, there's no stopping them and they will be on their way to the Super Bowl, and Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone has the listed the perfect opponent for them.

Listed Super Bowl projection has Bills being set up for huge showdown

Scataglia put together a list of three Super Bowl matchups that fans would want to see, and he has the Bills representing the AFC and the San Francisco 49ers being their opponent.

"Two teams that are regulars in the playoffs but have not gotten over the hump in recent years, the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers would make for another fun Super Bowl. For years now, the Bills have fallen short in the postseason, mostly thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs, but Josh Allen won't have to deal with that this year."

Both Buffalo and San Francisco are teams that come so close, but have had their hearts broken. Unlike Buffalo, the 49ers have made it to the Super Bowl but have failed each time against the Kansas City Chiefs. In four of the last five postseasons, the Chiefs have eliminated the Bills. Now, neither team has to worry about Patrick Mahomes ruining their dreams again.

Seeing players like Josh Allen, James Cook, Joey Bosa, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, and Brock Purdy take the field for the Super Bowl would be the exact matchup that NFL fans need. Not to mention, this would also set Buffalo up for a huge game seeing as how this year’s Super Bowl is in Santa Clara, where the 49ers play.

Both teams are heading to the playoffs, but in order to battle each other, they will have to get through their respective conferences.
