Miami Dolphins trade for Jonathan Taylor

The Miami Dolphins have one of the best passing offenses in the NFL with Tua Tagovailoa under center and Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as receivers. Tagovailoa is leading the league in passing yards after two weeks with 715 yards while Hill ranks third in receiving yards.

Even with the great passing game, the Dolphins have found themselves in back-to-back weeks in close games late. They would beat the Chargers by a final score of 36-34 and get past the Patriots with a 24-17 victory.

The one thing that is missing, and this was a problem for a number of years for the Buffalo Bills, is a dominant run game that can be leaned on late to run down the clock. This shortens games and doesn't give other teams changes to get back into it.

While Cam Akers could be an option, if the Miami Dolphins are going to make a trade it needs to be a clear upgrade over their current group led by Raheem Mostert. I don't know that Akers is that upgrade but Jonathan Taylor certainly would be.

The Colts running back is currently on injured reserve and is out for the first four games of the season. However, he looks like he might be return shortly after those games based on some social media posts.

Similar to the New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins find themselves in probably their best position as a franchise in a very long time. It would make perfect sense for them to go all in this year to try and get past the Buffalo Bills and a trade for Jonathan Taylor could do that.
