Top 5 games for the Buffalo Bills during the 2023 season
By Alfred Ezman
1. Week 14: Buffalo Bills 20, Kansas City Chiefs 17
Kansas City eventually got the better of the Bills in the playoffs. But, a win for Buffalo against the now back-to-back Super Bowl champions is a win that deserves the top of this list. This Chiefs team looked a lot different than they did when they won the Super Bowl and beat the Bills in the playoffs, but a win inside of Arrowhead Stadium is something any team in the NFL would hang their hat on.
Patrick Mahomes was able to throw for 271 yards. However, he was not necessarily accurate going 25-43 (58.1%) which was his third worst completion rate during the regular season. This correlates to just how disruptive Buffalo was on pass defense with 5 pass breakups among the team and an interception by Epenesa. Taron Johnson had arguably his best game on the season with a pass breakup and 9 total tackles.
Allen's throwing was off just like Mahomes. But, Cook picked up the slack with equally a good outing on both the ground and through the air. He had 58 rushing yards and 83 receiving yards with yards per play averages at 5.8 per carry and 16.6 per catch. He also had a receiving touchdown as well showing how much of an all-around threat he had become in the offense. Cook finished tied for third among all NFL running backs for the most receiving touchdowns.
No Isiah Pacheco was also trouble for the Chiefs as they were only able to muster 82 total rushing yards and no rusher had more than 40 yards on the day.
