Week 12: Buffalo Bills at Philadelphia Eagles

Jordan Poyer, Sean McDermott, Ryan Bates

One of the biggest games on the 2023 schedule is in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles, which has a chance to be a Super Bowl preview later this season. The Eagles had an excellent year last season that ended in an NFC Championship before coming up short to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

While it is one of the top games across the NFL next season, for a few Buffalo Bills it gives them a chance to go against their former team. Jordan Poyer has been with the Bills the past six years and re-signed with the team this offseason after agreeing to a two-year deal.

He began his career with the Eagles after they drafted him in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft but he was released before the end of his rookie season.

Another player on the Buffalo Bills who played with the Philadelphia Eagles at one time in his career was Ryan Bates. The Bills would actually trade for Ryan Bates before the 2019 season by sending Eli Harold to Philadelphia that certainly worked out in their favor.

Finally, this game will be important to head coach Sean McDermott as he began his coaching career with the Philadelphia Eagles back in 1999 and spent 12 seasons there before going to the Carolina Panthers.

All three are searching for their first win against their former team as Jordan Poyer is 0-2 while Bates and McDermott are both 0-1 after the Eagles won 31-13 back in 2019.
