5.) Joe Mixon - Week 5

The Houston Texans had a big splash in free agency which included trading for Joe Mixon from the Cincinnati Bengals. Mixon was traded in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round draft pick and then he would sign a three-year contract extension.

The Bengals were originally going to release the veteran back before the Texans made a trade for him. He is in the backfield with Dameon Pierce in an offense that is pass-happy led by C.J. Stroud. Is Mixon one of the worst running backs in the league? Absolutely not, but the Texans are not built to run the football. However, they are hoping to change that with Mixon.

At the same time, we do not know how the Texans will operate their run game. While Mixon can be a big time player, there is no consistency with his game. In addition, it is hard to imagine that Dameon Pierce will go through another season of not seeing enough playing time.

The Texans drafted him for a reason in 2022 and they need to utilize him. When the Bills square off against the Texans this season, Mixon won’t be a big contributor. Instead, it will be the Stefon Diggs show as he faces his former team.
