Patriots QB situation is pure comedy for Bills fans
Buffalo Bills fans had to deal with the New England Patriots dominating not only them but the AFC East and the entire NFL for two decades. That's why now it's even more sweet to see that same franchise having to deal with being stuck in quarterback purgatory.
For those not keeping up with the Patriots' offseason, they spent the third overall pick on North Carolina's Drake Maye, who first-year Pats head coach had to vouch that he knew how to run a huddle. There's also Jacoby Brissett, who has bounced around the league and right now appears to be the favorite to win the starting gig.
The good news for Bills fans is that it doesn't matter who wins the job in New England because neither option is scary. Maye is a rookie who has yet to take a professional snap in the league while Brissett is nothing more than a backup for most teams.
Bills fans should enjoy laughing at Patriots QB situation
Not only do the Bills not have to go up against Tom Brady or Bill Belichick twice a year anymore but they're armed with a franchise quarterback of their own. Shortly before Brady left the division to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Bills drafted Josh Allen and the rest is history.
While Allen and the Bills haven't had the success that Brady and the Patriots had early in his career, as long as Allen is quarterbacking the Bills, they're a Super Bowl contender. It's also nice to see them on top of the division every year after witnessing the Patriots curb-stomp them twice a year for two decades.
Let's hope that Brissett wins the job and struggles, forcing Maye to get thrown to the wolves and struggling even further. On the off chance that Maye is good and lives up to his third overall draft pick stock, let's get these digs in while we can, folks.
