How is this possible?

We are less than two weeks away from the release of the new Madden 25 video game that features running back Christian McCaffrey on the cover. The days of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen being on the cover are officially over, but Bills fans don’t need to worry about any kind of Madden curse now. For the last week, ratings have been released by position including who is in the ultimate 99 club that features Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Trent Williams, and Christian McCaffrey.

For any fans that are passionate Madden fans, the Bills are going to have a new look roster. The Bills only have one player that has a rating above 90 and to no surprise, it is Josh Allen. No one should be shocked that Allen is in the 90s because he is one of the top three quarterbacks in the league. When it comes to the quarterback ratings, it’s no surprise to see Mahomes above Allen. Even having Lamar Jackson, who was the MVP last season, is ranked at a 98.

However, there is one major disagreement to address with the next highest ranked quarterback. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow received a rating of 93, which is one spot higher than Allen (92).

This is disrespectful to Josh Allen

Ratings should be evaluated based on the previous season and there is no denying that Allen has surpassed Burrow. It all starts with Burrow’s season-ending injury in Week 11. Burrow’s reliability is starting to become a bit of a concern. First, he tore his ACL his rookie season, had a reported calf issue in training camp last year, and then injured his wrist in Week 11 that kept him out the rest of the season.

With this wrist injury, Burrow finished the 2023 season with 2,309 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. Burrow passed for over 300 yards just three times last season and had a major rough start to his season. Obviously, Allen passed Burrow in production but it’s because he managed to stay healthy and was still delivering mind-blowing plays to help the Bills steal the AFC East away in Week 18 from Miami.

Allen would finish last season 4,306 yards and 44 total touchdowns. However, he did have 18 interceptions and 7 fumbles. Maybe his somewhat reckless play was a factor in this rating evaluation, but in the end, Allen received a disrespectful ranking with being lower than Burrow.
