If you compare the Buffalo Bills’ first half performance against the Arizona Cardinals last week, it is the complete opposite of how they are performing against the Miami Dolphins. Buffalo’s defense has been dominant against Tua Tagovailoa, intercepting him twice in the first quarter and the Bills offense has been driving it down the field for various scores.

Part of the reason why the Bills’ offense has been so successful is because of running back James Cook. On each touchdown that Buffalo has scored, Cook has had the ball in his hands. His first one of the night was a receiving touchdown on 4th down to give the Bills an early 7-0 lead. Then Buffalo drove it down the field to give Cook the one-yard touchdown run.

Then after a fantastic Ed Oliver sack on 4th down to take the ball away, it took Cook just one play to rush 49 yards for his 3rd touchdown of the game. His performance in the first half has been unbelievable and with the way he has played, he joins Bills legend running back Thurman Thomas as the first Bills player to have a touchdown in the air and on the ground since 1991.

James Cook continues to grow

Since last year, Cook has shown that he is a crucial player in this Buffalo offense. He became the first Bill since LeSean McCoy to run for over 1,000 yards last year and now he is joining this exclusive club with Thomas when it comes to what he has done against the Dolphins.

Usually it is Josh Allen that finds a way to make the Dolphins look silly. However, if Buffalo can continue to run all over the Dolphins and make them feel the pressure, the Bills are setting themselves up as the team to beat in the AFC East.

There is still a whole other half to play and anything is possible. However, the Bills are in control and as long as they don’t lift their foot off of the gas pedal, it should be a fun Week 2 for Bills Mafia.
