The Buffalo Bills are hoping to win their fourth straight AFC East division title this upcoming season but they will be facing much tougher competition than they have in past seasons. One of those teams that are expected to challenge them is the Miami Dolphins, who made the playoffs last year as a Wild Card team but made a number of notable moves that could close that gap.

One of those moves was trading for former All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and he was expected to be paired with Xavien Howard to give the Dolphins secondary one of the best cornerback duos in the league. Unfortunately, the Dolphins are going to have to wait a bit to see that duo on the field after Jalen Ramsey suffered a knee injury in practice on Thursday.

According to Tom Pelissero, Ramsey is expected to miss six to eight weeks due to the surgery but the exact timeline won't be known until after the procedure.

Could Jalen Ramsey return before the Miami Dolphins play the Buffalo Bills?

The fact that the injury occurred as early as it did in training camp should help limit the regular season games that Ramsey misses due to that injury. If Ramsey is able to return in six weeks he should be available right around the season opener for the Dolphins on September 10th against the Los Angeles Chargers.

However, if it is the full eight weeks then he could return before Week 3 against the Denver Broncos but if the timeline is longer then Ramsey would miss the first game between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, which is in Week 4.

Even though it is early in the season, this matchup could loom large at the end of the season if the race for the division is close between the Buffalo Bills and the Dolphins. The potential return of Jalen Ramsey will be an interesting storyline heading into that game.
