It took referees one drive to royally screw the Buffalo Bills

It wouldn’t be a Buffalo Bills game without some call going against them that ultimately puts them at a major disadvantage. The Bills started out their game against the Arizona Cardinals on defense and it was not a great start to say the least. Running back James Conner was gashing through the defense both on the ground and in the air.

Just when it seemed like the Bills were going to be able to hold Kyler Murray and the offense to potentially three points, the referees got involved with a very questionable call that ultimately cost the Bills’ defense and it allowed Arizona to score the first touchdown of the game. 

On a broken play, Murray scrambled outside of the pocket and slid to end the play. However, cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram went in for the stop but was able to pull himself up without hitting Murray in the head/shoulder area. The refs stepped in and called a personal foul penalty on Ingram which helped set up first-and-goal for the Cardinals. Arizona eventually put six points on the board with a touchdown pass from Murray to wide receiver Michael Wilson.

The referees were way wrong on this call

While the Buffalo defense has not been performing well up to this point, they were in a prime position to atleast hold the Cardinals to just a field goal. Instead, they fall as victims of a horrendous penalty call by the referees. The fans (rightfully so) were very upset, and there was even a moment where the commentators mentioned how the Cardinals’ drive was given help to get them into the endzone.

There is no denying that the Bills’ defense needs to clean up their act, because they are allowing Arizona to walk all over them. At the same time, they are now playing catchup due to a bad call that puts them at a disadvantage.
