Injury to Bills veteran may have just opened up roster spot for this Bills player

If injuries could be eliminated from the game of football, most people if not all would agree to get rid of them. When players go down with minor or major injuries, it causes a disruption in the scheme and it takes away the best talent possible. We see it every year early on in training camp and during the season. There have already been a handful of reports about players tearing either their ACL or achilles as of now. Unfortunately, injuries are all part of the game.
Teams either take on a massive disadvantage when an important player of theirs goes down with an injury, or they will sometimes luck out and not have to face some impactful players themselves. The Bills have had some luck on their side when they have faced off against easier competition because of injuries to their opponents.
Up to this point, the Bills have not had any major injuries impact them but they have been dealing with some minor injuries here and there. However, Monday’s practice featured one of their more “bigger injuries” with a defensive back.
Mike Edwards signed with the Bills in free agency after spending last season with the Kansas City Chiefs, and was brought to Buffalo to help solidify this new look secondary. The two-time Super Bowl champ more than likely won’t be in Buffalo beyond 2024, seeing as how the Bills signed Taylor Rapp to a three-year deal and drafted Cole Bishop this year. However, his signing put the roster status of Damar Hamlin in jeopardy. That was until some news that came out of training camp…
According to Bills Reporter Sal Capaccio, Edwards suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him week-to-week on the injury list.
Edwards’ injury may have opened up roster spot for Hamlin
While hamstring injuries are not the absolute worst injury a player can have, they are lingering and can take weeks to heal. There are times where we have seen players miss extensive time because of an injured hamstring. If Edwards is not able to get back on the field and be productive throughout training camp and even preseason, Hamlin could be the third safety on this roster behind Rapp and Bishop.
