The Buffalo Bills are set to end Week 1 for the NFL when they take on the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. This is a key game for both teams as it is a divisional matchup and whoever wins will be tied with the Miami Dolphins at the top of the division.
The Buffalo Bills recently have had good success against the New York Jets as they have won five of their last six meetings. However, the only loss during that time period was last year when they traveled to MetLife Stadium, which is where tonight's game will take place.
This Jets' team is also the most talented since maybe the days of Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez. They have almost completely revamped the offense with veterans like Aaron Rodgers, Dalvin Cook, Allen Lazard, and Randall Cobb.
As for the Buffalo Bills, they are hoping that the continuity they have had in recent years will help them get off to a fast start. In fact, they were tied for the lowest roster turnover in the NFL with over 75% of the players on last year's team returning.
Even with most of the roster in place, there are notable changes for this team as they have two new starters on the offensive line along with a big pass catcher for Josh Allen in first round draft pick Dalton Kincaid.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bills have a new middle linebacker but also a new play-caller. Sean McDermott elected to take on the play calling with the departure of Leslie Frazier this offseason.
This should be a great game between two talented rosters and I don't expect either team to really pull away. The game should remain a one-score game for most of the night but the familiarity the coaching staff and players have should be enough to get the Buffalo Bills a win to start the 2023 season.
