Analytics are good now!

People give ESPN a hard time for how much attention they give the Chiefs, but it's hard to blame them. Narratively, there's so much meat on the bone in Kansas City, and it's ESPN job to showcase that. They've also been far-and-away the best team in football over the last half decade, so there's that. But reader, the days of endless Chiefs coverage is over. Their time is up. I know the Bills "lost" to the Chiefs "again" in last year's Divisional round, and that typically the champs are the champs until someone else says otherwise, but the proof is in the pudding. And fans can thank ESPN.

One of the major metrics a lot of ESPN football analysts like to reference is Football Power Index (FPI), which is – generally speaking – a statistic built tohat combines past performance with a variety of future predictions to get a better sense of how good a football team (college and pro FPI slightly differ) actually is. You can read way more about it here if you're not convinced or just bored at work. The only thing you actually need to know is that FPI loves the Bills. Like, FPI really loves the Bills.

ESPN's FPI Index thinks the Bills are the best team in the NFL

Number one! No one is better than the Bills, and the Chiefs especially aren't better than the Bills. The Chiefs aren't even better than the 49ers, and they're the worst team in the NFC West right now. They went up 7.1 points, which definitely means something and is more points than anyone else went up. I don't know how many FPI points exposing the Jaguars on national television is worth, but I bet it's a bunch.

That's all the data I need. the Chiefs-Bills rivalry is now at the very least a tie. One team's got rings, the other team's got points. All good things must come to an end and the Chiefs are no different. FPI has spoken; who are we to argue?
