James Cook, Ty Johnson, Ray Davis, Reggie Gilliam

The Buffalo Bills added to the running back position with the selection of Ray Davis out of Kentucky on Day 3 and he is exactly the type of back this offense needed. At the top of the depth chart was expected to be James Cook and Ty Johnson but they are similar running backs and it was important to get some power and size to work the middle of the field and move the pile on short-yardage situations.

Ray Davis has shown he can do that during his time at Vanderbilt and Kentucky and will fit in nicely as that third down specialist. However, one thing that stands out about all three running backs is that they are all good receivers out of the backfield.

This is something that Joe Brady can utilize really well in his offensive scheme and give Josh Allen more options on passing downs that will keep defenses guessing.
