Fans can say what they want about the Buffalo Bills and their offseason that they had, but they have never had to deal with any kind of contract drama which can carry on for weeks or even months. It is a continuous headache that teams and players are always involved in as the market basically gets set every year depending on the position. Players want their money, but the teams want to make sure that they have flexibility to keep building the team.
After months of continuous contract negotiation drama, the Miami Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa have agreed on a new four-year deal worth $212.4 million in which Tua will earn an average $53.1 million per year. The news was first reported by Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.
It had been reported by NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe that the Miami offense was struggling without Tua practicing and it seems like that Miami blinked first. This now means that Tua is a full go for the rest of training camp and the Dolphins will be looking to get ready for the season.
Tua's new contract is a huge gift for the Buffalo Bills
The Dolphins are one of, if not the fastest team in the NFL. They have speed on offense and the right play caller in Mike McDaniel to get them to light up the scoreboard. In Week 3 of last season, they put up 70 points on the Denver Broncos. Even with their fast offense that starts with Tua behind center, they are not built to beat the Bills. The Buffalo defense has constantly given Tua and the Miami offense trouble the last few seasons.
Buffalo has only lost to Miami twice since 2018, including just once with Tua as the starter. While the Dolphins have been slowly climbing the AFC East rankings, they have been able to knock the Bills down from the top. With the Dolphins giving Tua this contract, they are setting themselves up to keep on losing to the Bills as long as Tua is under center.
