Pick Number 33: Cooper DeJean, DB (Iowa)

While fans are clamoring for a wide receiver, the Buffalo Bills decide to go with the best player available and that is Cooper DeJean out of Iowa. He is a versatile defensive back who doesn't really have a true fit from the start, which is good news for the Bills.

DeJean played both safety and cornerback with the Hawkeyes and the Bills could bring him in and have him start at cornerback or even backup nickel behind Taron Johnson. However, his best fit is at safety and he could be a Day 1 starter for this defense.

The Bills lost Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde this offseason, two cornerstones of this defense for the past seven seasons. They did bring in Mike Edwards on a one-year deal and re-signed Taylor Rapp to a three-year deal. However, DeJean is the type of player, in this defense, that could be a starter for the next decade and develop into an All-Pro at the position. It is tough to pass up that potential, even with the concerns at wide receiver.
