Cornerbacks: Tre’Davious White, Taron Johnson, Kaiir Elam, Christina Benford, Siran Neal, Dane Jackson (6)

Tre White gets a full offseason to train rather than recover from his torn ACL he suffered back in November of 2021 against the New Orleans Saints. Now the next step is to figure out who will earn that second cornerback spot to pair with White and safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer.

Taron Johnson should resume his nickel corner responsibilities, so that leaves the last cornerback spot wide open. Between Elam, Benford, Neal, and Jackson, the door is open for those who can consistently contain the competition that is in front of them.

There are mixed reports about how each player has stood out, and how they have struggled. Historically, Elam improved down the stretch last season. Benford and Jackson had sometimes replaced Elam during the season and Siran Neal is seen more so on special teams but is sometimes on the field if the Bills are in super protection mode against the pass.

With McDermott’s ability to pay attention to detail on the defensive backs, he will be able to go with the guy who can hold his ground against a receiver. It’s a position that the Bills have not had solidified for what seems like years now.
