Who emerges as the favorite at middle linebacker for Buffalo Bills?
The coaching staff will need to find a new middle linebacker this summer with Tremaine Edmunds leaving in free agency to sign with the Chicago Bears. It is a pretty wide open competition as they have a number of players competing but no clear favorite at this point.
The potential is there for someone to emerge but it isn't ideal to not have some inclination at who that player might be. The Bills have two third round picks, Terrel Bernard last year and Dorian Williams this year, in the competition along with Tyrel Dodson (five career starts over three years) and A.J. Klein (experience in Sean McDermott's defense but hasn't been a full-time starter since 2019).
One of the surprises over the past few weeks has been the fact that Dorian Williams has been getting work at middle linebacker. After the NFL Draft, Brandon Beane seemed to indicate that he would start at outside linebacker but that has quickly changed with Williams already practicing at MIKE.
It will be interesting to see if that trend continues this week or if there is another linebacker who emerges.
