Buffalo Bills: Top 4 2023 free agents who will outplay their contract
Poona Ford
The defensive tackle position is in a much better place at this point than it was coming out of the NFL Draft. At that time, the Bills didn't add any players to the position and didn't have any players under contract past this season.
The Bills addressed the long term concerns recently by reaching a contract extension with Ed Oliver but prior to that signed free agent Poona Ford. He played five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and is a big defensive tackle at 310 pounds that can clog running lanes and make it difficult for opposing teams.
The addition of Ford now gives the Buffalo Bills a player who can be paired with DaQuan Jones in that one-tech role. He probably will start behind Jones but has 64 career starts and could step in if the need were to arise.
The one year contract worth $2.25 million ranks 125th among defensive linemen which is a bargain and he should be on the field about 40% of the defensive snaps this season for Buffalo.
