The Buffalo Bills were not able to make a big splash this offseason like they did last year with the signing of Von Miller. General manager Brandon Beane had to be more creative with the limited cap space they had but he was very effective in improving the roster.

The Buffalo Bills signed only one player to a contract longer than two years, which was offensive guard Connor McGovern who agreed to a three-year deal. The team was able to sign a number of players that are expected to have big roles this season, even be starters, that are almost certainly going to outplay the contract they signed this offseason.

Damien Harris

The Buffalo Bills made a change at running back when Devin Singletary signed a one-year deal worth $2.75 million with the Houston Texans. Singletary was productive during his time with the Buffalo Bills but the run game as a whole seemed to always be missing something.

The missing piece is Damien Harris, who the Bills signed to a one-year deal worth $1.77 million as a free agent. The former New England Patriots running back is more of a power back and will take pressure off Josh Allen in those short-yardage and goal-line situations.

In Damien Harris' career, he has 72 carries with Yards-to-Go between 1-3 yards and converted 75% of those carries into first downs. Meanwhile, Devin Singletary has 113 carries in the same situation but converted only 64% of the carries into first downs.

While James Cook should see a majority of the work, Damien Harris is probably a better fit for this offense. With the Bills signing him for less money than Devin Singletary, he should easily outplay his contract.
